At the 4th Ordinary General Assembly of the World Union of Ahıska Turks (DATUB) held in Antalya, the current chairman, Ziyatdin Kassanov, was re-elected as the chairman by receiving the votes of all the delegates. Sending a message to the meeting, Presidential Advisor Yalçın Topçu said, "As long as the world exists, Turkey will exist. As long as it exists in Turkey, it will always be by the side of the Meskhetian Turks.

Because as much as Ankara belongs to people from Edirne, Ardahan, Hakkari and Yozgat, it belongs to Ahıska Turks." he said.

The 4th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the World Union of Ahıska Turks was held in a hotel in Antalya Kundu, hosted by DATUB's Turkey Mediterranean Representation. The theme of the general assembly meeting with the delegates from Turkey, Kazakhstan, USA, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan was declared as "unity and solidarity". The President's Chief Advisor, Yalçın Topçu, sent a message to the general assembly attended by many delegates. DATUB Chairman Ziyatdin Kassanov was re-elected as the chairman by receiving the votes of all delegates in the assembly he attended as the only candidate.

The Chief Advisor to the President, Yalçın Topçu, who could not attend the meeting due to his schedules, sent a message. Wishing the General Assembly to be instrumental in our unity and peace, Topçu said, "As long as the world exists, Turkey will exist. As long as it exists in Turkey, it will always be with the Meskhetian Turks. Because as much as Ankara belongs to people from Edirne, Ardahan, Hakkari and Yozgat, it belongs to Ahıska Turks." he said.

Message from Topcu

Yalçın Topçu said in his message, "The Ahıska Turk; grew up with the stories of Dede Korkut, spoke the language of Yunus Emre; and they are Zarina's, Mihriban's, Zöhre's, Ruzanna's, Azim's and Kamil's unfinished glorious epic. The oppression, persecution and exiles that Ahıska Turks faced from the beginning of the 188s during the period of Tsarist Russia increased even more with the participation of around forty thousand Ahıska youth into the war as USSR soldiers during the Second World War.

Unfortunately, the parents and relatives of the conscripts were subjected to a genocidal operation, which was made to look like exile, from their homeland, which is now Georgia, by the USSR leader Stalin and the Minister of Internal Affairs Beria.

The civilian and innocent inhabitants of the villages and towns, which were raided at midnight on November 15, 1944, were sent to Central Asian countries, and were exiled by being divided into a thousand pieces in these places.

To the peoples; “For your safety, you will temporarily go to safe areas, and soon you will return to your homeland.” had been lied to. But in reality, it was an operation carried out to clear the Meskhetian region of Turks and cut off Turkey's contact with this region. As the child of an 93 Ahiska immigrant family, my wish is; It is the end of the endless exile of Ahıska people. In this regard, Russia, Georgia, the United Nations and all related countries should do their part. On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to the State of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Nation for giving the Meskhetian Turks the value they deserve.

And of course, with the will of our Honorable President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, protecting our kinsmen at the point of citizenship and resettlement is above all kinds of appreciation. From generation to generation, Ahıska Turks will proudly tell the next generations of the good deeds that the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has done for them.

"As long as the world exists, Turkey will exist"

As long as the world exists, Turkey will exist. As long as it exists in Turkey, it will always be with the Meskhetian Turks. Because as much as Ankara belongs to people from Edirne, Ardahan, Hakkari and Yozgat, it belongs to Ahıska Turks. We wish our General Assembly to be instrumental in our unity and solidarity; I wish success to our newly elected directors, and I would like to express my gratitude to those who have contributed so far. I respectfully greet all esteemed attendants who attended our general assembly in your person.”

"We have determined our roadmap"

World Union of Ahıska Turks President Ziyatdin Kassanov pointed out that today is a historical day for 600 thousand Ahıska Turks living in the world and said, “Ahiska Turks living in 9 countries sent their own representatives to this congress.

Thank God, the new assembly, administration and president were elected. We determined our target and the roadmap ahead. We will continue to work on this path,” he said.
