The 1st Ordinary General Assembly of the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 was held at Fatih Mimarsinan Stadium. In the elections, Yasin Şamlı received 791 votes, Gönül Yıldız received 591 votes and Murat Güneş received 5 votes. Yasin Şamlı was elected to the Presidency of the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2.

The Chairman of the All Lawyers Union, Attorney Mustafa Kuran, congratulated Chairman Yasin Şamlı and the administration and said:

“I congratulate Lawyer Yasin Şamlı, who was elected to the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 and whom I appreciate. I believe he will be a very successful President. A gentlemanly election, lively and active voting, and the result that made everyone happy is that Attorney Yasin Şamlı is the President. This event will of course go down in history among Istanbul attorneys. The political and ideological behaviors of the former Bar Association administrations and their unnecessary opposition to the governments have not been beneficial to themselves or the Istanbul Bar Association. I hope they will recover from now on and act in a fair and correct manner. The fact that it went to Lawyer Yasin Şamlı, which was the rightful, fair and experienced lawyer for the first time I voted as a lawyer for 54 years, and that he got results, have been instrumental in my happiness.

Our cause is great, it is justice, it is nationality. Our cause is the fair administration of Turkey. Allah bless those who serve this cause. We wish them success in their work. I congratulate my brother Yasin, the lawyer, and the members of his elected staff, and I wish success and good health from Allah.”
